Soul Spill
I did not want to say it
Especially, not out loud
Even though it was known
In my early heart
These thoughts were taught as wrong
Strange and different
not accepted here
Decided just to fake it
From one extreme to the next
shouting stumbling pushing
Testing what made no sense
Seeking to destroy
This me that felt ashamed
Scared to think it
but dreamed it anyway
Had to keep on moving
Confused thoughts in confined spaces
Needed to cross some lines
Think on my own time
From small town bonfires
To big city views
I searched until she asked me not to go
Then found the heart I always knew
And learned what real love meant
People surrounding supported
when they felt our happiness
Spill across the streets
in front of us
Especially, not out loud
Even though it was known
In my early heart
These thoughts were taught as wrong
Strange and different
not accepted here
Decided just to fake it
From one extreme to the next
shouting stumbling pushing
Testing what made no sense
Seeking to destroy
This me that felt ashamed
Scared to think it
but dreamed it anyway
Had to keep on moving
Confused thoughts in confined spaces
Needed to cross some lines
Think on my own time
From small town bonfires
To big city views
I searched until she asked me not to go
Then found the heart I always knew
And learned what real love meant
People surrounding supported
when they felt our happiness
Spill across the streets
in front of us
Giving Thanks

Equal Rights!!
The National Equality March will take place this Sunday, October 11th in Washington DC. This will be the fifth gay-rights march on Washington others were held in 1979, 1987,1992 and 2000.
Every year they have been fighting for the same equal rights we are asking for now. (Which makes my heart sink a bit)
The focus includes the repeal of the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy and the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act, as well as the passage of GLBT-inclusive federal hate crimes legislation, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and an immigration bill that would allow same-sex partners of U.S. citizens to obtain permanent resident status.
I hope if your in the DC area you get out and march for EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY... esp your favorite lesbians!!

Mad Luv
I have been blessed with amazing friendships in my life. Friendships that are as old as I am, friendships that feel like I never lived without them. I am thankful everyday for these people and this love I have with them. I may not see them as much as I used to. We all have busy jobs, relationships and schedules but this post is for YOU!

I Do
Same-sex couples in Vermont can legally get married starting today and in honor of this, Ben & Jerry's has temporarily renamed "Chubby Hubby" to "Hubby Hubby". Nice!
Vermont is one of five states that now allow same-sex couples to marry. Five out of Fifty! I guess it is a start but that statistic is depressing! Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa and New Hampshire are the others.
Thanks to Ben & Jerry's for supporting the rights of the LGBT community!!

Strength
"I also think, on a very personal level, if you're asked what or how you feel, and what you want, it makes you feel valued. And if you feel valued, it makes you stronger."
Mia Kirshner's (hottness above) wise words relating to her project I Live Here. It is a book composed of different stories from people who live in poverty stricken Malawi.

NYC Nights
My girl took me to see OTEP last night at the Blender Theater and we had a blast. It was my first time seeing them and I loved watching her switch from growling to singing to screaming all in the same breath. The fans ranged in age and there was a fair number of ladies in the house. YAY lesbians! The show had a nice mix of the band's most popular songs and songs off the new album Smash the Control Machine. I will be picking that up! I stayed out of the mosh pit but the people in it were going after it and loving every minute of the show. Otep's bass player, Evil J (the guy in the back of the picture) was fantastic, plus he was a really nice guy. We had a chance to meet the band after the show. Not sure I have ever been on a tour bus before. It was a fun crazy night out and I am blessed Xo
